BASTROP, LA. A celebration of the life of L.V. Price will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home in Bastrop, Louisiana with Reverend Eugene Brown officiating assisted by Reverends John Yates, Norman Bryant, and Larry Fincher. Interment will follow at Mer Rouge Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. Reverend L.V. Price, a minister of his Lord and Savior since age 17, joined our Lord in heaven Wednesday morning September 14, 2011. He has now entered heaven to receive his crown.
L.V. Price was born January 16, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas to the late Leland and Bessie Price. Reverend Price is survived by his sweetheart and wife of fifty years, Linda Moore Price of Bastrop; one daughter, Linette Vanessa Dunn and husband, Matthew Dunn, three precious grand daughters, Alayna, Laurie Ann, and newborn, Rachel Dunn all of Monroe; his brother, Samuel James Price of Lufkin, Texas; and beloved friends he pastored, neighbors he ministered to, and coworkers from twenty years at Wal-Mart. He graciously shared his deep devotion to God in the life style he exhibited before others. Ms. Linda says, "When I met L.V. Price it was the greatest honor God ever gave me. However, I realized this poor boy needed help. As the registrar of Southwestern Assemblies of God College, I felt obligated to fulfill this need and thus began a wonderful relationsip of fifty-one years."
In 1961, L.V. Price graduated from Okumulgee High School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He attended Southwestern Assemblies of God College where he met his wife. They were married in 1962 and began to pastor in 1965. Reverend Price was ordained in 1968. He pastored churches in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. Reverend Price authored eleven books, the last one being "A Work of Love."
Serving as pallbearers are Jonathon Barbo, John Antonio Johnson, Recardo Langstaff, Kevin Berry, Logan Mack, Rob Rogers, Daryl Wolgemuth, and Randy May. Honorary pallbearer is Craig Mack.
The family will receive friends Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop.
